NATIONAL PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION FOR MIDDLE LEADERSHIP (NPQML)

Develop the skills, knowledge and confidence that you need to lead a high-performing team in a school and to improve classroom practice.

Who can apply?
You should be a middle leader in a school with responsibly for leading a team.

The Programme
The qualification has a flexible, modular structure which combines core modules with the freedom to specialise or develop your own professional areas of interest through the choice of elective modules. Typically, the course runs over a year. Each module involves practical learning in your school, face-to-face peer and facilitated learning, plus reading, reflection and online learning.

Core Modules

  • Leading Teaching – Learn how to develop, improve and sustain high quality teaching within a team and identify strategies to help close gaps in attainment.
  • Managing Systems and Processes – Learn how to implement whole-school policies with your team in a systematic and consistent way.

Please make sure that you look at both programmes and ensure that you choose the right one. To help with this it may be helpful to think about the possible school based project:

  • If working with a team then ML is the appropriate programme.
  • If working with teams across the organisation then SL is appropriate.
